AEO guide

AEO means making content easy to understand and reuse as an answer

Answer Engine Optimization is the practice of structuring clear, verifiable and crawlable answers for search and AI-driven discovery — without replacing technical SEO or useful content.

What is AEO?

AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) is an approach to creating and structuring content so systems that answer questions directly can more easily understand the topic, context and specific answer. In practice this means clear definitions, logical structure, verifiable claims, crawlable text, consistent entities and useful internal links.

AEO is not a replacement for SEO and there is no single universal “AEO ranking factor.” Treat it as a content and information-architecture discipline that complements technical SEO.

Core signals

What makes a page answer-friendly

Direct answer

Answer the main question early and without unnecessary introduction.

Clear entities

Name the product, category, function and relationships between them consistently.

Evidence

Distinguish facts, first-party product claims, examples and opinions.

Structure

Use descriptive H2/H3 headings, lists and tables only when they improve understanding.

Crawlability

Key text should be available in the rendered page and accessible to crawlers.

Internal context

Connect concept pages, product pages and supporting articles thematically.

Workflow

A practical AEO framework for one page

5

05

What not to do

AEO is not a trick for AI traffic

  1. 01

    Do not invent schema

Structured data should describe real content and entities, not create nonexistent facts.

  2. 02

Do not write for a crawler instead of a person

Direct answers should be useful to a real reader, not keyword-stuffed snippets.

  3. 03

Do not treat citation as guaranteed

Good structure improves machine readability but does not guarantee inclusion or citation by any particular system.

AEO checklist for Adstic Orb

For product and concept pages, we use a clear entity architecture: Adstic Orb as the business platform, MCP as the tool interface, plus specific capabilities such as CRM, funnels, email marketing, online store and booking.

For informational pages, the first content block should be able to answer the main query on its own. Explanation, examples, limitations and links to deeper resources follow.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about AEO

  • Is AEO different from SEO?

Yes as a lens, but not as a separate technical universe. AEO puts more emphasis on direct answers, entity context and machine readability while still depending on crawlability, quality and the broader SEO foundation.

  • Does every page need an FAQ?

No. FAQ makes sense only when there are real additional questions. Do not add artificial questions just for schema or length.

  • Does structured data guarantee AI citation?

No. Valid structured data can help machines interpret content, but it does not guarantee ranking, inclusion or citation.

  • Should I create separate content for AI?

Usually it is better for the primary content to be clear, factual and well structured for people and machines rather than maintaining a separate weak AI-only layer.
